The internet is becoming localized, an example of this is Google places, you can visit it here. This helps consumers find local companies whether you're seeing a plumber, handyman or have your ned 52" flat screen TV installed, which was the case with me. I found Flatscreensinstalled.com just two blocks away from my house and had my new TV and home theatre system up and running within a day. You can visit that site here. Another example of localization is the website Foursquare. This helps you and your friends find and recommend local places and events.
