Choosing a design for your room or home while at college
Tidbits on design choosing
Part 2
Therefore, if you are not a good drawer, then you might want to stick to carbon copying and stencil application.
However if you do not want to adhere to one topic or create a general themed decoration, you will need to consider at least two one for the walls and the other for the related fabric designs. Yet, you can also take only one for the walls (or leave the walls blank or decorated in any other manner); one for the rest of the furniture and one more to decorate overly used carpets.
• Should carpets be painted?
Carpets can be fabric painted and decorated; of course, it will certainly be something that is unique and particular to your own personality. However, it is important that you are aware that fabric painting a carpet will require you to use bigger amounts of fabric paint and that it will fade away as you vacuum and clean the carpet when you do your household chores.
It is not advisable that you use vinyl paint on your carpets, this type of paint will mush the carpet and create rough patches; still, when you use fabric paint there will be rough patches, but it is more manageable and these patches can be broken down and some of the softness of the carpet can be restored.
Is important that you consider the particular effect that both fabric paint and vinyl paint cause on the carpet fabric and decide whether are you willing to have it and live with it. Nonetheless, there are times when a carpet is too damaged to be worthwhile painting, in such case, you will need to consider carpet removing or replacing. If the carpet is too damaged to be worth the effort, it is advisable to wash it thoroughly and then throw on top of the clean and damaged carpet a new one, even if it is a smaller one just to cover up over worn patches and excessively used carpets.
If you are still using fabric painting for your carpets, make sure that the design that you use is adequate to the space where you will be putting it. Once again and just as you did with the wall, you can blow up the design, center the pattern, and decorate the carpet with the big and centered design or you can create smaller patterns in a walking path style.
